Coming back to the United States after five years was an exciting experience for me. It brought back some special memories and increased anticipation, especially because it marked my first-ever attendance at the United States Coaches Convention. As a former college soccer player at Bryan College, this trip was not just a reunion with familiar places and faces, but it also opened up new opportunities for Southern Cross Athletes.
I attended the United States Soccer Coaches Convention which allowed me to reconnect with the soccer community in the United States. I met various people involved in the soccer scene including agents, coaches, and others. I had the pleasure of meeting coaches from different levels such as Division 1 all the way through to Junior colleges. These connections proved to be invaluable for the athletes we represent and could make a big difference for them in the long term future.
Our mission at Southern Cross Athletes is to assist young and ambitious athletes in finding opportunities to pursue college sports in the United States through our four-phased recruitment process. By engaging with coaches at different levels, we can tailor our approach to meet the specific needs and aspirations of the athletes we represent. The convention provided experiences and ideas that will in turn develop into valuable opportunities for our athletes.
The purpose of the convention was to provide a platform where people could make new connections and collaborate with each other. It was an opportunity for academies to discuss their strategies, for agents to pitch their players to college programs, and above all the opportunity to continue learning. Every conversation held at the convention opened up new avenues for athletes, which eventually led to scholarships being awarded to some of our athletes.
While in LA, I had the opportunity to tour California State Fullerton (DI) and Soka University (NAIA). Their facilities and environment rival those of major professional organizations across the world.
The convention wasn't only a gathering of coaches; it was a coming together of ideas and opportunities. It showcased the influence of soccer, not just as a means of competition, but also as a bridge that unites individuals from various backgrounds.
As I look back on this whirlwind trip, I feel grateful for the opportunities that arose and the new connections that were formed. The convention was not just about reminiscing about the glory days of college soccer; it was about creating new stories for the athletes we represent. Southern Cross Athletes, empowered by the relationships forged at the convention, is now in a position to continue making a difference in the lives of young athletes here in Australia.
"The convention wasn't only a gathering of coaches; it was a coming together of ideas and opportunities. It showcased the influence of soccer, not just as a means of competition, but also as a bridge that unites individuals from various backgrounds."
In the end, it was fun.
It was exciting.
It opened new doors.
It will be remembered forever.
Looking forward to the next one and everything it has in store for our athletes.
